Excalibur SIG: Roadmaps, Reporting and Regulatory Modifications
 The Excalibur SIG (Special Interest Group) is off to a running start. The first meeting was held on September 2nd with close to 20 companies represented.
At the meeting, Excalibur Product Manager Tim Wadle started off with an update on P2 Energy Solutions, the role of Product Management within P2 Energy Solutions and a high level presentation of the Excalibur Roadmap.
Product Management is a fairly new department within P2 Energy Solutions focused on the long term strategic direction for Excalibur and tasked with ensuring that Excalibur continues to add value to our clients for many years to come.
The major themes on the Excalibur Roadmap include:
- Improving business process flow and usability
- Increasing data access and reporting capabilities
- Regulatory modifications
- International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Integration with other P2 Energy Solutions products
In future meetings, we will talk in more detail about these themes and gain insight from you on your needs and concerns.
You are invited to join our next SIG meeting. It will be held via WebEx on October 7th at 9:30 CDT, 8:30 MT. We’ll be discussing reporting approaches and issues and the release and patching process. We’ll also be answering some specific questions from clients that were generated from the first SIG regarding some specifics of the product roadmap.

Sneak Peek: Excalibur Dashboard
 The Excalibur Dashboard is a new management tool to view key performance indicators (KPIs) of oil and gas companies in a desktop-based solution that leverages Excalibur data directly.
Dashboards vary from other reporting tools in that they provide a quick visualization, usually in a graphical, chart or trend type indicator of KPIs. The Excalibur Dashboard answers many questions with a glance, such as:
- Is production increasing or decreasing month over month?
- Are lifting costs going up or down?
- What is my current well count?
Some of the standard KPIs that are being developed are Well Count, Capital Investment, Monthly Production, Price, Lifting Costs, Operating Expenses and Operating Revenue.
Users can also use Excalibur Reporting Studio, AdHoc Query, FinSubs and other tools to drill down into the specifics of a trend that was realized in the KPI.

Excalibur Tip of the Month: Screen Captures
Many of us occasionally need to “capture” a screen to save it or send it on to someone else.
To do this, many people press the Print Screen button (this copies the view of your desktop) and then they paste the image into another document.
Did you know that you can copy ONLY the active image on top, rather than the entire desktop? Simply hold down the Alt key while you press the Print Screen button. This provides a larger, clearer image of the active screen, and allows you to keep your desktop and any open windows behind the screen private.
